Outdated GPU drivers blamed for Rage PC issues
AMD has released new drivers, available on its website, in response to complaints of screen tearing, texture and performance issues with the PC version of Rage.
According to the Bethesda Blog, Id is working with Nvidia to push out a similar fix. Users are advised to wait for the Rage-specific update rather than upgrading willy-nilly.
Of particular note are those using drivers updated for the Battlefield 3 beta, which will need to be rolled back.
Rage released yesterday in the US and arrives elsewhere by the end of the week, for PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Reviews have been largely delighted.
Thanks, GiantBomb.

SWTOR beta testing resumes this weekend
Bioware has announced that beta testing will start again this weekend on October 6 and run until October 10 for Star Wars: The Old Republic. The firm is increasing the invite numbers from the first weekend, meaning more of you will get to play. Invites are being sent as we speak, and if you are shunned this weekend by the firm, don’t fret – more testing weekends will occur the game launches in December. If for some reason you miss the mail or are just unsure if you have been invited or not, log in to the official SWTOR website’s tester page. If you have been invited, the client will be available to download. Thanks, Mike.

Unreal Engine 3 brings 3D gaming to Flash
Epic’s Tim Sweeney announced during Adobe MAX 2011 today that Unreal Engine 3 now runs inside Flash Player 11. To demonstrate how it works, he demoed Unreal Tournament 3 running in Adobe’s latest update which was released yesterday. This means browser games using UR3 can provide the player with a “real” 3D experience. This will also make it easier to convert browser-based games into apps for mobile devices. The big thing, will be Facebook games: since these are browser-based games, using UR3, you may eventually find that your farm or zoo games will finally start looking more like a PC or console title. Check out shots of UT3 running in Flash below.
