GT5 Functionality Update 2.0 detailed, releasing October 11
The contents of Functionality Update 2.0 to Gran Turismo 5 have been detailed by Sony and Polyphony Digital, and it looks as though the free update will include interior views in standard cars, and the ability to save progress during endurance races.

NPD: Total videogame spend in US hits $4.5 billion during Q2
NPD has released a report citing the amount spent by US consumers on gaming accessories, content and hardware during Q2 of the 2011 fiscal year, and the figure currently stands at $4.5 billion, which is up one percent year-over-year.

Sony’s Long Live Play TV campaign features gamer pictures
Sony has announced the reason why it asked PS3 users to send in pictures of themselves holding their PS3 controller along with a 30 words-or-less description as to why they are the ultimate PlayStation gamer. Turns out, those chosen will be featured in new PlayStation ads as part of Sony’s Long Live Play campaign. A dozen or so “die-hard gamers” were chosen to represent the PlayStation Nation and shots of these folks will air in the commercials starting today. One of these is posted below, which is a tribute to a gamer named Michael. You’ll also notice frames on the walls and ceiling in the room featuring a collection of photos of those who submitted their pictures. Who knows – maybe one of you are in there somewhere. PSN encountering sign-in issues
Several PSN users are reporting problems with signing into PlayStation Network. Players who are unable to get in are currently receiving the code 80710092. Sony has said its “currently looking in to this at the moment,” but will give an update when it knows more. Today’s not a good day for PSN to be acting up, with free Portal 2 DLC and Crysis on console due to make their way to the PS Store at some point this evening.

Original Crysis hits EU 360 Games on Demand
The original Crysis has appeared on Games on Demand for Xbox 360 in Europe following a release in the US for 360 and PS3 owners. PSN owners will get it later today, but it’ll set you back £14.99/1600 MS points. The download will come in at a weighty 4.09Gb. Queue it up for your 360 online through here. New Dance Central 2 trailer is a non-shocker
Harmonix has released the latest trailer of Dance Central 2, coming at near five minutes. The clip shows the four groups within the game whilst choreographers and Harmonix dev staff go into detail about the Kinect dancing game. Get the video below the break, via GiantBomb.

Ace Combat demo gets 1.2 million downloads
Namco Bandai’s announced the demo for Ace Combat: Assault Horizon has hit 1.2 million downloads worldwide on PSN and Xbox Live. The demo launched last month with two missions involving jets and helicopters respectively. The full thing’s out next week in the US and Europe for PS3 and 360.

Inafune announces new 3DS title Kai-oh
Keiji Inafune’s announced this morning the first full project he’s developing since leaving Capcom a year ago: a 3DS title known as Kai-oh. The game, to be published by Marvelous AQL and developed by Inafune’s Intercept studio, is an action RPG with a pirate theme, but with you playing as a penguin. No, we don’t get it neither. It’ll be out next year.
Inafune’s done some social titles for Japan, but this is the first big game he’s done since leaving Capcom last October. Thanks, Andriasang.
