To celebrate its North American launch today, Sony and Overkill have released a new video for PAYDAY: The Heist. A date for Europe and the PC version are still to be announced. The game will run you $19.99 on PSN, or will be free for those who purchased all the games which were part of Sony’s PLAY program over the summer. Activision and Beachhead are shutting down the Call of Duty: ELITE beta today at 12:00pm PST – or right about now, actually. According to the firms, the Connect, Compete and Improve sections have been closed in preparation for Modern Warfare 3 and ELITE’s official launch, access to the Career page will soon be opening up with access to Black Ops stats later this week. Just as a reminder, all
beta activity carries over when the service officially launches. Both ELITE and MW3 launch on November 8, and to give you an idea of what’s free, and what is subscription-based, you should check out this rather handy comparison sheet, complete with visual aids.

The Torchlight 2 FAQ at over at RunicGamesFansite.com has been updated with a bit of news regarding the game’s release. According to Runic, the RPG will see a release sometime during November or December of this year, unless “someone on the team dies.” Awesome. Upon release, the game will run you $20, and players will be able to choose between the Embermage, Berserker, Engineer, and Outlander as a class. Thanks, MMORPG.

Valve’s Chet Faliszek has said the firm prefers to update its Source Engine as needed, instead of working on a placement, a la Source Engine 2.

Uncharted 3′s season pass, dubbed the Fortune Hunters Club, is to be made available today via the PS Store and through select retailers. It will run you $24.99 and will provide you with updates as to when the DLC and skins planned for the game are ready for download. The first of four multiplayer map packs, and the first of three skin packs are to be made available in November, not long after the core game hits stores. The US PS Blog notes that the DLC and skins bought separately, would run you around $45, so when you become a member of the FHC, you’ll end up saving yourself around 45 percent as well as net a free PS3 theme. Uncharted 3 is out November 1.

Earlier today, Gamekyo reported that Warner was set to announce LEGO Batman 2 for multiple platforms next year, and now the LA Times has word that The Hobbit, as well as another DC Comics-based title are heading our way in 2012.

IGN is reporting that the level cap for PSN Trophies has been raised, allowing players to move beyond level 50. So far, the record holder is user duck360, who has reached level 56 (84 percent), who has 15,868 Trophies and 319 Platinum Trophies. We’re too embarrassed to divulge how pathetic our personal stats are. No word just yet on what the new cap is, if there is one. Thanks, Shack.

EA released the demo of Need for Speed: The Run today on Xbox Live and PSN, and Ve3tro has captured the race event from it. In the videos below the break, you’ll see the Lamborghini Gallardo racing down the road, and if you invite a friend to play with you, you’ll unlock the Porsche 911 Carrera S. The game will be made available on the aforementioned consoles, as well as 3DS, PC, and Wii November 17.

During a Star Wars: The Old Republic panel at New York Comic Con last week, Bioware provided some extra information pertaining to the MMO’s flashpoints. Turns out, 15 of SWTOR’s version of instances will be made available at launch.

Capcom has stated in an FAQ on its support site that Monster Hunter 3G will not have an online co-op mode. It will instead use ad hoc wireless play with nearby Nintendo 3DS systems. Players will still be able to access the Internet to download event quests. Capcom has hinted it will localize the game in the west, but has yet to confirm any details on the matter. Thanks, Kotaku.

Rocksteady and Warner announced today the PC version of Batman: Arkham City, which suffered a delay earlier this summer, will be released for Windows on November 18 in the UK.
