Blizzard: Offering Diablo III for free is a show of “gratitude,” to WoW player base
Blizzard COO Paul Sams has said the firm is offering Diablo III free to World of Warcraft Annual Pass subscribers as a way to “show an amount of gratitude,” to the player base.

NOA announces Metallic Rose and Midnight Blue DSi XL bundles
NOA has announced blue and pink DSi XL bundles for the US. The packs will land in stores starting November 6. The Metallic Rose and Midnight Blue versions will come with Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Mini-Land Mayhem, and will run you $169.99. Nintendo announced earlier today that Icy White and Misty Pink 3DS bundles would launch in Europe on November 18, and will include a copy of Super Mario 3D Land, and Nintendogs + Cats, respectively.

Battlefield 3 pre-orders hit close to 3 million
EA has announced that pre-orders for Battlefield 3 hit close to the 3 million mark when it went on sale, today in the US. It’s unknown at present whether these figures are worldwide or just for the US. EA will report its Q2 results this coming Thursday, and while the fiscal report won’t include sales figures for the shooter, the firm may provide a more solid figure for the pre-order sector. Just last week, the firm said pre-orders were at “around 2 million,” and back in early September, EA CFO Eric Brown said the figure stood at around 1.25 million. BF3 is out today in the US and hits the UK Friday.

DICE releases LAN 6 video presentation on “Shiny PC Graphics” in Battlefield 3
Johan Andersson, rendering architect at DICE, held a presentation called “Shiny PC Graphics in Battlefield 3″ at GeForce LAN 6, which took place on the USS Hornet Aircraft Carrier, October 14-16. Andersson’s talk focused on five graphical components in Battlefield 3: objects, lighting, effects, terrain, and post-processing.

500,000 sign up for The Secret World beta
Funcom’s announced its seen 500,000 people sign up for the closed beta of The Secret World. The MMO, which kicked off signups in August, is being published by EA Partners. Funcom CEO interest in TSW is “even greater than we experienced with ‘Age of Conan’ at the same stage of development.”

Report – Zynga to commence IPO before Thanksgiving
Zynga will go ahead with its IPO and begin trading shares before Thanksgiving, according to Reuters. The report claims, via two anonymous sources, the company will take part in the typical two-week roadshow of presenting its offering to investors before the holiday on November 24. Zynga originally announced a $1 billion IPO back in July.

White, pink 3DS SKUs comes to Europe next month
Following confirmation this morning of a Australian release, Nintendo has announced this morning it’ll release the pink-flavoured 3DS in Europe alongside a white SKU on November 18. Both colours were first announced last month and earlier this month a piece for Japan. Both colours will be bundled with games ahead of the Christmas season: the white console will get Super Mario 3D Land, while Nintendogs + Cats will accompany pink.
The White and pink 3DS’s will then release separately in December.

GAME, GameStation to hold midnight launches for Battlefield 3
GAME and GameStation have published the full list of stores taking part for midnight launches in the UK for Battlefield 3 this Thursday/Friday. You can probably find the same usual spots on the list on there, so you should be covered either way. Some stores will open up early to consumers take part in any trade-in offers. GAME’s website has recommended, however, to “check with your local branch before going out on the night as they will have the latest information.”

Mario Kart 7 to get steering wheel peripheral
A Nintendo-licensed steering wheel peripheral from Hori is on the way for Mario Kart 7 in Japan. The wheel for the 3DS racer will go on sale at ¥1,280 alongside the game’s release in the country on December 1.

GT’s posted a new trailer of Grand Slam Tennis 2 in action, confirming more than 20 of the top players of the support, past and present, in the game.
