Rumour - Silicon Knights staff cut by 75%

Troubled Canadian developer Silicon Knights is said to have been hit by "massive layoffs".

1UP cites two independent anonymous sources for the rumours, which have a team of 97 reduced to just 25.

The studio's entire HR department is said to have been cut, including the wife of Silicon Knights president Denis Dyack.

In July, Silicon Knights announced its intention to expand, adding 80 more positions to its existing staff of nearly 100, on the back of a CDN $3 million government grant.

The developer is best known for the 2008 release Too Human, which suffered an extended and controversy-plagued development period and went down like a lead balloon. Its latest effort, X-Men: Destiny, has not met with much acclaim.
