20 minutes of Skyrim’s opening leaked online

A YouTube user called Twelve Dogs Dancing has posted two videos showing off the beginning The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, from opening cinematic right through character creation and off to questing.

Zenimax promptly had the videos removed, but not before the Internet – specifically, Kotaku – had made a copy. Hit that link post-haste if you want to spoil the game’s beginnings.

If you can hold it, Skyrim launches on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on November 11.

Proud of myself, only watched the first 2 seconds and heard a dragon shifting around or something, pushing rocks, title card for Bethesda then skipped to the middle and saw 4-5 seconds of a character being made, shifting face tattoos. Then I stopped. I can wait… I CAN WAIT!!! AAAAAAAHHHHH.

360 footage i guess. Textures and everything else is a bit off. Of course visuals does not matter in RPG, but i remember that Elder Scrolls each time pushed the hardware and visuals for the RPG genre and it’s stopped with SKYRIM because of 5-6 year old hardware =(

So starting at level 1 and you can kill an imperial captain and a huge bear? And the guy almost didn’t lose any health… what’s this, Fable IV?

@3, i think thats just a pre-scripted event.

If you remember there was a crappy moment in Oblivion where you could not stop king’s retarded death…

It’s somehow bad to want to play through the opening yourself now? :-D

I’m with Blerk. I want Skyrim to be the one game this year that hasn’t been completely spoiled for me before I start playing it.

The Adventurer guide to “So, how things begin in The Elder Scrolls?”:

Chapter 1: Morrowind

Jiub: Wake Up. We’re Here. Why are you shaking? Are you ok? Wake up. Stand up. There you go. You were dreaming. What’s your name?

You: …

Jiub: Stop looking like crazy and go and get your release documents signed so you can get the hell out of this sinking pile of woods and KILL THINGS, you dig?

Chapter 2: Oblivion
Emperor: I can go no further. You alone must stand against the Prince of Destruction and his Mortal Servants. He must not have the Amulet of Kings!

You: …

Emperor: Will you fucking go free and let this old geezer die in some fucking peace? Seriously man, I mean it.. I’m still the fucking emperor, I can also command my guards to execute your sorry ass… go shoo…

Chapter 3: Skyrim

Pfff.. do you really need to ask?!

PS: don’t get me wrong though, I love TES series.

You’re a prisoner because it’s a way to allow every character to start off on the same footing and with whatever origin story you want to role-play (if any). Whether you’re a mage that was wrongly accused of necromancy, a tough fighter guy that murdered someone, political prisoner rogue, or maybe you just got drunk and told a guard on the street to screw himself… Everyone is the same as far as gameplay is concerned when you come out of the jail. Of course there are probably other blank slate scenarios they could come up with, but at this point it’s an Elder Scrolls tradition.
