Quick Quotes: Battlefield 3 multiplayer benefited from 100% in-house development

Saturday, 29th October 2011 20:29 GMT By Stephany Nunneley

“It’s a world of difference to work together at one location. The whole game is made at DICE in Stockholm. It’s great having the guys running around, talking to each other. Co-op, for example, is actually based on a lot of the philosophy behind multiplayer. Teamwork is never forced, but we have different gadgets and mechanics that help you work together. Just the co-op and the multiplayer guys talking to each other, what you should be doing, it’s a much more coherent and better product overall.” – BF3 producer Patrick Liu on the differences between Battlefield 3 and Medal of Honor multiplayer development (via MTV).

I am like playing the game for 5 mins and the crashes no for fun me. If it was stream I would never get that kind of problems. Maybe it’s EA drm spi-ware !

So is that a comment on the Medal of Honor effort or just another stab at the competition? :P

It definitely wasn’t a good idea to keep the digital distribution inhouse though.

@3 Well, even the competition’s efforts are in-house. They are all in one big ass building :p

And if you think about it, it makes sense and is much easier than chatting online, through video conference, or on speaker phone and sending bits and bytes over invisible waves.

@Steph Really, they are? This is why we need you guys around, you got the inside scoop!

Goes without saying that that would make things a lot easier for everybody, but the Sledgehammer guys still said they were hoping to go back to work on their own stuff once MW3 was out the door.

Its still a collaborative effort Id say. Arent Raven still onboard for maps as well?

@5 Sometimes I can’t figure out if I love the fact you are a smart ass or if I want to put you in time out for it. :)

@1 Have you tried upgrading your punkbuster? There was an update to it recently and that was the effect it was having on people. PS that would also happen on Steam :D
