EA advice on Battlefield 3 360 code issue: get a new one

EA has made a statement regarding the ongoing issue of Xbox 360 Battlefield codes not working, saying it’s “aware” of the problem.

“We are aware of the invalid code issue and we apologize for the inconvenience,” said the publisher.

“Since certain retailers are affected by this issue, please check with the retailer where you purchased Battlefield 3 in order to receive a replacement code.”

Battlefield 3 released in the UK and Europe last night, following a US ship earlier in the week.

The launch has been plagued with technical difficulties, ranging from overwhelmed servers to PC gamers simply not being able to play.

The Battlefield Twitter is a good place to monitor the state of EA’s work on the game’s servers.

EA said last night that 10 million Battlefield 3 units gave now shipped.

Saying the launch of BF3 could have gone better would be an understatement

They should give away some free DLC to apologise for this mess.

I have to ask and where are the retailers going to get new codes from apart from other copies of BF3 which in then makes that copy of the game almost unsaleable

@3: The kind of codes they’re talking about are the special promotional ones that are found on the receipt. Gamestop does this.

@3, why, they’ve got your money and they know you’ll still be here when it all gets fixed.

Gamers have shown that they’ll take a shit ton of abuse from game companies unless they’re playing EVE. Hell, it still amazes me how much crap Gamers were willing to settle with concerning Galaxies.

@5 thats something i’ve been saying for years but with most games in most genres.

@4 are you 100% certain about that? We have now had 3 major releases this year that have had foul ups with codes involved. How many many more times is this going to happen i ask

If they had good customer service skills, the solution would be simple.

Announce a universal code that anyone can use for the next 48 hours (or whatever time frame they deem appropriate). That way, anyone who bought official copy and code doesn’t work, they’re covered. Close the code after 48 hours, go back to normal with future copies. Done.

Get a new one?

If you bought it on Origin, it might go something like this: http://i.imgur.com/cGbBE.png

@13 Judging by that supporters english, it’s probably some indian sweatshop. Never a great idea if you want happy customers.

And I couldn’t agree more. The sooner they put it on Steam, the better for all of us. I’m pretty sure they could handle a missing code a hell of a lot better than that.

I seriously think we should start running a book on when BF3 goes onto STEAM… I’d bet on or around Nov 8th ;)

Im not so sure about that. MW3 carries Steamworks and EA have been acting like big babies for a while now.
