Bethesda lists minimum and recommend PC specs for Skyrim
Bethesda has revealed the minimum and recommended PC specs for Skyrim.

The hardware list was announced via Twitter by Pete Hines, who said to expect full details on PC specs and some console information to be posted on the Bethesda Blog shortly.
Until then, here’s what you will need in order to run the game.
Minimum PC Specs:
- Operating System: Win XP/7/Vista (32 or 64 bit)
- CPU: Dual Core 2Ghz
- Memory: 2GB RAM
- Video Card: DirectX9c video card w/ 512MB RAM
Recommended PC Specs:
- Operating System: Win XP/7
- CPU: Quad-Core Intel/AMD CPU
- Memory: 4GB RAM, 6GB Hard Drive Space
- Sound: DirectX compatible sound card
- Video Card: DirectX9 video card with 1GB memory. GTX 260/Radeon 4890 or higher
The recommended settings are to run the game on “High” graphical output, according to Bethesda. However, if you want to run the game on “Ultra” graphics, well, you better get a bigger boat.

It’s actually 2 GHz,and as #1 said only 6 GB of hard drive space sounds suspiciously small…#4 it DEFINITELY smells like one…

@2 The GB was an error by Bethesda, as noted on Twitter. Yes it was supposed to be Ghz.
Also, the recommend setting are for “high” not “ultra”. You’ll need better than recommend to run the game at that setting.

Oblivion had 8GBs on it and I had 100′s of hours on it. And people seem to forget that technology behind compression is getting more and more advance. Witcher 2 was 14GB and only offered 30 hours of gameplay and Rage had 25GB and only offered 15ish and Thats with all side quests and campaign done.
Size of game =/= Fun or quality

#8, No doubt, but you can’t expect to see a lot of variety with that little assets (looking at the size). Either that or the textures are really tightly compressed, which I doubt. But then again, it’ll only be a matter of time when the mods roll in.

I can’t say I’m surprised. The gameplay they’ve shown so far hasn’t been very pretty. Scripted action sequences is all well and good, but the actual contact when the guy strikes something in the videos looks very mechanical.

My PC would eat this for breakfast, nom nom nom
As for HDD space my guess would be around the 15-20GB mark – it was made for consoles and is shipping on one 360 disc after all.
I guess we’ll find out when Skrim hits or when Bethesda learns how to issue a press release that doesn’t include errors… whichever one comes first

Why bother putting out 2 discs when you can cut the excess stuff and make it DLC? (don’t answer). I’m surprised nobody has mentioned the fact (some) DLC seems to exist for this very reason.
Either I’m way looking forward to this and the great mods that will follow on the PC version.

Console conversion or not, the combat better be up to scratch considering that’s what you’ll be doing 90% of the time.
It’s still looking very similar to elder scrolls at the moment and from what I played at Eurogamer expo. Still fun, but still slightly lacking ‘weight’ in some of the melee encounters. I’ve been surprisingly spoiled by Dead Islands visceral combat!
