Rocksteady on post-Arkham City: "What happens next depends on how this game is received"

Rocksteady marketing boss Dax Ginn has said that what the studio does next entirely depends on the reception Batman: Arkham City gets at release this week.

"What happens next depends on how this game is received. We're really proud of the work we've done and I think taking Batman on to the streets of Gotham is where people wanted him to go after the Asylum," Ginn told CVG if the next logical step was to take the series into Gotham City itself.

"Where we go from here is anyone's guess. There's a philosophy at the studio that as long as we keep making awesome things, awesome opportunities will open up to us. But we can't make any firm decisions because the games industry is a crazy thing. We're just focused on the here and now and getting to October 31. We'll see what people think of this first."

In terms of if it wanted to do its own IP instead of Batman, Ginn was keen to stress that it was taking as much out of its relationship with DC Comics as it can.

"We're a small team and we're working on, purely just everything that we can get out of DC. The relationship we have with them is amazing, we're really making this our focus," he said.

"You're right it is a similar answer because if we get to do our own stuff in the future then cool but there's nothing else we'd rather be doing. It's not like we're sitting here going 'Aw man, we gotta work on Batman. Are you serious?" There's nothing else we'd rather be doing."

Batman: Arkham City releases today in the US and on Friday in the UK for PS3 and 360. Watch the site later today for final pre-launch impressions and our own interview with Ginn.
