EA Bright Light reportedly in closure process
According to new information, EA has apparently entered into a consultation process that seems to indicate it will be closing EA Bright Light in the UK.
EA Bright Light is most well known for its games based on the Harry Potter films: Order of the Phoenix, Half-Blood Prince, and Deathly Hallows. It was also well-known for its previous games when it was known as Bullfrog Productions before coming under the EA label: Populous, Syndicate, and Dungeon Keeper.
GamesIndustry.biz is reporting that EA has entered into the formal consultation process that is required by law before closing a studio.
“Employees that are impacted will be considered for positions at other EA Studios including those in the UK,” EA said in a release today. “The UK is a vital centre of game development for EA and we intend to maintain a strong presence here.”

@1 Don’t even try. Dungeon Keeper was made by Bullfrog with the last title released in 1999. It has nothing to do with this cheap movie tie-in assembly line.
Some members of Bullfrog founded Mucky Foot after they got swallowed up by EA, which was the true spiritual successor to Bullfrog, probably even more so than Lionhead, if you look at the games they made. Startopia was an incredible game, but just like Psychonauts, people turned it down.

I’m not a fan of EA much but it’s good of them to keep a presence in the UK especially with the current state of the UK games industry.

Their first Happy Potter game was the last title comprising of the old Bullfrog team, there really wasn’t anyone left after as people moved on according to one ex Bullfrog employee so it was just another EA studio but sucks for them to lose their jobs regardless.

@3 Right, they were awesome games, and they still are, but it has nothing to do with EA Bright Light.
