Sony confirms 20mb restriction on Vita 3G downloads

At the GDC Online event today, a senior Sony engineer confirmed some of the PlayStation Vita's hardware limitations. Sony Computer Entertainment America senior staff developer support engineer Chris Norden confirmed that 3G providers will still be imposing a 20mb limit on media and game downloads for 3G-enabled versions of the system. Much larger downloads, however, will still be possible via a wi-fi connection.

Norton also said that speculation that Vita is as powerful as a PS3 is completely untrue. "That's not true. That couldn't be true. The things would burst on fire in your hands or something," he said.

He did, however, confirm that the system will be capable of supporting developers who want to implement microtransactions and free-to-play business models into their games.
