Remedy providing development feedback for Max Payne 3

Tuesday, 4th October 2011 10:16 GMT By Johnny Cullen

Original Max Payne developer Remedy Entertainment has cleared up its position on where it’s at with Max Payne 3, saying its been providing feedback to Rockstar with its development.

“We’ve been friends with Rockstar for a very long time, personally and then, obviously, as companies: we’ve collaborated on Max Payne 1 and Max Payne 2. When they went about building Max Payne 3, they opened up the conversation,” Remedy boss Matias Myllyrinne told GameSpot in a retrospective interview for the series.

“They were kind enough to give us builds, and then asking for feedback. In that way, I think it’s felt natural.”

Payne writer Sam Lake noted the new game was “worth the wait, and in many ways, we spent a lot of years working very closely on Max. And now, kinda getting near to release, it feels like welcoming an old friend.”

Remedy released the first Max Payne in 2002, before following up with Max Payne 2 in 2004.

The Finnish developer has since sold off the IP to Rockstar, with its Vancouver studio handling the main dev duties ahead of the game’s March 2012 release

Remedy itself has been working on Alan Wake since finishing with Max, releasing the thriller last year on Xbox 360. A new game in the Wake universe is in development, but isn’t an actual full-blown sequel.

I’m… happy!?! Seriously, this is probably just a PR move and done as favor to RS by Remedy but still, I’m happy.
