Assassin’s Creed: Desmond’s story to wrap up by December 2012, says Revelations creative boss

Monday, 3rd October 2011 13:37 GMT By Johnny Cullen

While Assassin’s Creed: Revelations will wrap up Ezio and Altair’s story, Desmond’s story will continue, but only for another year, Revelations’ creative lead has said.

Alexandre Amacio has said Desmond’s story, which revolves around the world ending in December 2012 – when isn’t it ending – is in need of wrapping up by then.

“In Assassin’s Creed we set up a timeline with this whole end of the world plot of December 2012,” Amacio told Eurogamer. “That’s fast approaching, and the story we have to tell, we obviously need to do it before we arrive at that point.

“We had such a complex and strong narrative that we ourselves did our best to just try to execute these games before that date. It would be stupid of us to be centring a game on a semi-reality and then have that conclusion happen after that date in real life.”

After Desmond’s conclusion, when Assassin’s Creed returns afterwards – if it does – it’ll be back with a new central character and without a yearly-release schedule to boot, according to Amacio.

Assassin’s Creed: Revelations releases on November 15 in the US and November 18 in the UK for PS3 and 360. The PC version was recently delayed.

Watch for pieces on ACR from both Eurogamer Expo and a press event happening in London today in the near future.

This to me is all sounding like Lost, in the sense that Lost’s story is based within a year but took 6 years in total to film the whole thing, meaning it doesn’t feel cohesive and urgent the way it should.

But saying that them making a game every year is just wearing the whole Assassins Creed name thin.

What I’d do is after revelations take a full length dev time to make AC3.

@1 ‘without a yearly-release schedule to boot, according to Amacio.’ That’s why he said that :)

And hopefully the whole deal won’t be because of a SPOILERhole/fountainSPOILER XD

This will be the most anticipated ending for the most anticipated franchise. Can’t wait to see it.

I lost interest in Ezio halfway through Brotherhood, don’t know why, it just bored me. Looking forward to a newer AC rather than Ezio’s story
