Gravity Daze gets new videos from Tokyo

gravity daze

Two videos of Gravity Daze have appeared online from Tokyo Game Show this morning. The first is a playthrough of the game by Siren creator and ex-Silent Hill boss Keiichiro Toyama, while the second video is the trailer for the game at the show. We’ve had a proper eye on this since we seen it for the first time at the Vita unveil in January. We think we might like this.

Gravity Draze launches next year for Vita. Thanks, Siliconera.

F1 2011 gets first Vita footage

f1-2011

Codemasters has released the first footage of F1 2011 being played on Vita from Tokyo Game Show this morning. It’s not full of too many shockers; there’s F1 cars going round Spa. Not much else to say to that other than it’s below the break. The game will have all the teams, drivers and tracks from the 2011 season.

F1 2011 launches in Japan as a launch title for Vita on December 17. The console versions of the racer arrive at the end of thismonth for PS3, 360 and PC.

Namco Bandai at TGS – Vita, 3DS, Soulcalibur V

SoulcaliburV-NewArt

Famitsu already spoiled some of the big announcements to come out of the Namco Bandai pre-TGS press conference, but there were still some details to be chewed over and enjoyed. Expect big things for the PlayStation Vita launch lineup, Tekken, Ace Combat, Katamari Damacy and – of course, Soulcalibur V.

Final Fantasy Type-0 TGS trailer features explosions, cheesy J-pop

type-0

We can’t claim to even begin to understand what’s going on in Final Fantasy Type-0′s latest trailer, but it sure does look pretty. In an industry that constantly strives to capture the subtle, graceful ebb and flow of goddamn explosions, Square Enix’s CG department deserves a gold medal. That will self-destruct in ten seconds. There are also some story and battle bits in there, the latter of which gives us flashbacks to Crisis Core – in a good way. Check out the full thing after the break. Oh, and make sure to mute your volume. Don’t let our ears’ sacrifice be in vain.

Thanks, Siliconera.

El Shaddai: Ascension of the Metatron going 2D, coming to Android

elshaddaiandroid

El Shaddai’s taking its drop-dead gorgeous show on the road. Or at least, roads paved with Google’s ever-popular mobile OS. Famitsu (via Andriasang) revealed the bite-sized adaptation to be a 2D platformer, which is pretty much par for the course with these things. Leap-based shenanigans are, of course, great and all, but the real question is whether or not the game’s unique sense of style made the jump intact. So far, we’ve only got one screen to go on, but, uh, let’s just say they could have picked a better screen.

Bethesda: Why we turned down A Game of Thrones

TyrionLannister-AGameOfThrones

George R. R. Martin’s best-selling A Song of Fire and Ice is coming to our gaming fingertips real soon now, some gamers are a little surprised that the fantasy series has been translated into – of all things – an RTS, and not, say… a massive, beautiful RPG.

Now, Todd Howard from Bethesda Softworks has revealed that his company actually turned down the opportunity to turn the Game of Thrones series into a video game – and it’s all Skyrim’s fault.

Diabolical Pitch footage lurches out of TGS

DiabolicalPitch-YellowCatch

One of the more obscure highlights of Tokyo Game Show so far has been the big reveal Diabolical Pitch, formerly known as Codename D. Take Japanese favourite Suda51 and the team at Grasshopper Manufacture, throw in some motion controls, a baseball bat and some scary monsters, and you’re onto a winner.

While we haven’t yet had a chance to try out the upcoming XBLA title, the sneaky folk over at Joystiq smuggled a video camera in and grabbed some more footage of the game in action, plus a shaky-cam version of the first trailer.

Early Soulcalibur games being considered for DLC release

SoulcaliburV-ginger2

With Soulcalibur V on the way soon, game director Daishi Odashima is getting pretty chatty on Twitter. While some of his posts relate to game design theory and the reasons behind certain decisions, he’s also getting awfully close to letting certain cats out of certain bags.

Take-Two ships more than 22m copies of GTA IV

GTAIV-LadyLiberty-Trailer

Whether or not Rockstar Games is hard at work on a sequel, Take-Two Interactive has paused for a moment to reflect on just how very well it has done for itself. The publisher has just released a bunch of sales data for Grand Theft Auto IV, and it’s none too shabby.

PlayStation Suite SDK makes cross-platform content easy

vita2

Game developers, listen up. Sony’s putting the finishing touches on a present for you, and we think you should act grateful. Revealed at Tokyo Game Show, the new PlayStation Suite SDK does pretty much what it says on the tin – it’s a Software Development Kit for both PS Vita and Android OS, meaning you can create twice the games in half the time.
