Epic “felt the need to properly represent” women in Gears 3
The Gears of War series has plenty of female fans, and while Epic’s Cliff Bleszinski doesn’t really “know why” it does, he and the rest of the development team felt the fairer gender needed representation in the final act of the trilogy.

Technical re-jigging has reduced the original FFXIII’s three-disc requirement on Xbox 360 to just one disc for the remastered FFXIII-2. It’s like magic.

NFS: The Run video introduces you to the story
EA and Black Box have released a video which gives you a glimpse of the story in Need for Speed: The Run. Apparently, Jack is a wanted man, and he must drive 3,000 miles of “unforgiving asphalt,” from San Francisco to New York armed with only guts and instinct to get him through alive. It’s out November 15 n the US and November 18 in Europe.

Battlefield: Bad Company 2 PC receives 2.6GB patch, removes DRM
The release of Battlefield 3 is a mere several weeks away, but those PC gamers still enjoying the previous instalment will be pleased to hear EA has joined the ranks of publishers that release a title DRM’d to the nines, only to later put out a patch to remove it. Huzzah!

Marvel seeks video game partner for The Avengers
The new movie adaptation of The Avengers is looking pretty good, shaping up for a cinematic release in the middle of next year. However, the video game tie-in isn’t doing so well, following the recent closure of both Australian THQ studios, who were developing the game.
Now, because you can’t have a movie without a game, Marvel Comics is looking for a development partner to work on a new licensed rendition.

Rumour: Smash Bros. Universe named in leaked document
A new Smash Bros. game for Wii U is most certainly planned, that much we know thanks to Satoru Iwata’s announcement at E3 earlier this year – an announcement that series creator Masahiro Sakurai felt was a little premature considering that work hasn’t even begun on the title. Perhaps it’s not too early for the game’s title to be decided, though?
