The Binding of Isaac storms Steam charts

On the day of its release, The Binding of Isaac - an indie rogue-like action RPG from Edmund McMillen, one half of Team Meat - has dominated Steam sales.

"Holy s**t," Mc Millen tweeted happily about an hour ago.

"The Binding of Isaac is the 2nd highest grossing game of the day so far on Steam! Thanks everyone!"

At time of writing, The Binding of Isaac is also sitting at number three on the Steam customer-facing sales charts, behind A Game of Thrones Genesis and Dead Island.

So far, the game has garnered a delighted critical response, although it has suffered a few launch day issues. McMillen has asked purchasers to restart their Steam clients to collect a rapidly-processed update making achievements available to PC users, with Mac support inbound.

The Binding of Isaac is a randomly-generated shooter with strong RPG and rogue-like overtones. It sports more than 100 items, 50 enemy types, 20 bosses, eight levels, four chapters, three unlockable classes (and more to come, possibly) and multiple endings.

The Binding of Isaac is available at a ten percent discount to celebrate its launch, and will cost you $4.49, or $5.38 bundled with its soundtrack.
