Star Wars: The Old Republic to include achievements

Despite earlier doubts, BioWare's Daniel Erickson has confirmed Star Wars: The Old Republic will feature achievements from day one - and they won't be trivial, either.

"Achievements have made ship in fact," Erickson said at a fan Q&A session during Euorgamer Expo 2011, as reported by DarthHater.

"They're not going to be the crazy achievements that you have to place everywhere, that are like, 'Hey if you drink 6 beers and fart in a cantina,'" he continued.

"Those are not going the achievements to go in. Version one of the achievement system [will] go in, which is actually doing big, heroic stuff, because there's a ton of great optional content in The Old Republic."

Erickson indicated the achievements would be less like checklists of chore completed and more like awards for outstanding performance.

"Like, 'Hey, I went to every world and kicked the world boss's ass.' Those kinds of achievements," he said.

"The first system is, 'Hey, here's my bragging rights, here's the bad ass stuff I did in-game.'"

A second tier of achievements, providing reasons to re-explore all territory, may be added later - after the core system.

BioWare also confirmed a late December launch for the anticipated MMORPG at Eurogamer Expo.

Thanks, Massively.
