Parappa The Rapper may return through Vita or new business models, says creator

Parappa The Rapper could make a return either through new business models or on PlayStation Vita, series creator Masaya Matsuura has said.

Speaking at Tokyo Game Show a couple of weeks back, Matsuura told Joystiq that he preferred to have rhythm games for handhelds for latency reasons, saying that there was a "good chance" he'd be able to revisit the series on Vita.

But as he explained to the site, there was also the issue of if anyone would be willing to pay full-price for "5, 6 stages."

Matsuura also said that Parappa wasn't considered to be a game at first by Sony.

"They sold Parappa as not a game, just an interactive something," he said. "Their conservative knowledge about games was Mario, Sega something, Street Fighter -- they couldn't accept Parappa as a game."

It was after it became a success, Sony's mind had changed on the subject.

"Finally, the audience and market decided Parappa was a game, not Sony."
