UK charts: Gears 3 tops, F1 2011 lands second

Gears of War 3 has, unsurprisingly, become the new UK number one and the biggest launch so far to date this year, taking the top spot from Dead Island.

The final chapter in Delta’s story was the seventh biggest launch on 360 to date – or the 12th largest individual format launch – with it being close to selling as much as the launch periods combined of Gears of War 1 and 2.

F1 2011, the other big new entry, raced in at second. The Techland zombie thriller drops to third.

505 Games are the only publisher to have two games in the top ten this week: Zumba Fitness goes up two spots to fourth and Rugby World Cup 2011 is tenth.

Full top ten for the week ending September 24 is below. Last week’s data is here.

  1. Gears of War 3
  2. F1 2011
  3. Dead Island
  4. Zumba Fitness
  5. Deus Ex: Human Revolution
  6. Driver: San Francisco
  7. Warhammer 40k: Space Marine
  8. Resistance 3
  9. LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean
  10. Rugby World Cup 2011
