CCP Newcastle working on future PC and console tech

Thursday, 22nd September 2011 21:54 GMT By Stephany Nunneley

CCP has told Develop it’s already working on tech for the next generation of consoles and future PC tech.

According to the firm’s VP of business development, Thor Gunnarsson, the work is underway at its studio in Newcastle.

“Ultimately, CCP Newcastle will be working in full capacity on technology for the next generation of hardware,”he said. “Newcastle really is an engineering office for us, that’s the kind of people we’re looking for. They’re working on internal tech, and with various middleware, and game engines too.”

CCP’s Dust 514 hits PS3 in 2012.

Didn’t know their profits have a specific goal. Thought it was for the subscribers to keep on play the game they like and not for them to decide where the money goes to. Grow up.

they gave their money not for a reason . They want more out of their current game, not for a game that is not for them! Even Blizzard know this very well (they dont even touch console by making WOW MMOFPS because there’s such a big risk involved for something like that)!

WHat you are saying is that the CCP or Blizzard can only put their money that they get from their MMO to only their MMO? Yeah thats real logical. THats why Blizzard is developing an unknown MMO, Starcraft and Diablo which all of them have different markets to pinpoint.

SO you are wrong on so many levels.

What blizzard doing is stay at their root of succes! Whether in the platform they choose or in the product they’ve been created. Yes, they will spend their WOW money through other product. I knew it already!
    But the real question :

Is it wanted by their fans or not??
Do they neglecting the fanbase of their previous installment or not??

We knew that Blizz created new MMO, but they do still care with WOW and not turns it into microtranscation thingie like what CCP have been tried recently to gain more money for the development of their deviated product!
Diablo and starcraft sequel for PC ? Everyone have been wait for it! Dust 514 for PS3? who the heck knew it except for the controversies its created from dissapointment of their PC fanbase!

CCP fans are trully from PC platform, they should knew that already and stay inside it! If they try something like Dust for PS 3, they’ve been walk at the wrong direction that even Blizzard wont dare to try till now!

Diablo 3 has been confirmed to be on the consoles so your point is moot. The company can put their money where they want and EVE is still thriving so apparently their decisions have not pissed off their “fanbase” as you have said because people are still throwing money at them.

“Diablo 3 has been confirmed to be on the consoles so your point is moot.”

I knew it of course! Diablo 1 also being ported to Play Station. But, do they neglecting their PC fanbase (a.k.a the root of their success) by making it exclusive for console? And then, Is there any PC version for dust 514 ? It will be different story if CCP put their money for both PC and PS3 so that their fanbase (that have been put their money all this time) wont feel dissapointed!
EVE still thriving because they’re listening http://www.pcgamer.com/2011/07/06/eve-onlines-incarnagate-scandal-continues-devs-and-player-council-debate-details-about-the-future/ (and because the fraction of their dissapointed subscriber already pull their moneY out) and already change some of their policy (not much of course, so that their head of CSM still in a bad mood http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2011-09-09-eurogamer-interviews-the-eve-council-chairman-interview )!

The game is still thriving whether a group of people or a person is pissed, the company is still making money. CCP decided they wanted to go in the COnsole market so they are making a game for the PS3 that brings more players to the EVE universe nothing is wrong with that and CCP has said that the PC version is a maybe but right now Dust is for the PS3.

That is their decision, its their money they can blow it on whatever they want. People are pissed and rightly so but its not so much that it is Star Wars Galaxies repeat.
