Death awaits those unlucky enough to get Dark Souls before official release
From Software has decided to unleash max-level Black Phantoms into the world of Dark Souls, in order to seek out players who get their hands on the game before the official release date. According to Japanese blog Esuteru, the Phantoms are level 145 and contain 1900 hit points with their abilities maxed out at 99. In other words, death, death and more death await you if fate is tempted. The reason behind the harsh punishment has something to do with Japanese stores breaking the game’s street date before it is officially released in the country tomorrow. The same rules will apply to those who get it early in the US and UK before it’s released on October 4 and October 7, respectively. Thanks, Edge.

Seems a bit dumb to punish players for retailers breaking the street date. If a store says the game is available or sends it and i receive it before release, i’m not going to sit the game down and refuse to play it.
Well, at least its nothing too insane, like banning players or something.

@2 It’s just a bit of fun. You could always disconnect your console from the network if you’re that bothered about it.

haha! What a very good way to deal with impatience for a game. lol
No multiplayer game damaging advantages, but much character deaths reserved for anyone jumping the gun.

hehe nice
I am not sure if I play online or offline for the first playthrough.
Online kinda ruins every surprise cause you get warned about a trap/special enemy etc when you see messages on the ground.

I’ll laugh if someone manages to overcome DEAth. What happens if u restart the game and go offline, will the demons still be maxed out?

It would be good if they killed you using a big fish

I look forward to the challenge! >=3
As anyone who’s played Demon’s Souls knows, you can beat anything, any level, given enough patience and agility. =P
(Unless they’ve given it regenerating health. Then just run.)

Well, if this game is nearly the same as Dark Souls, than the better way to play it — offline, without internet connected. And no Phantoms than.

Since most people won’t know this, you bet there is going to be complaint about it.
