Ono discusses the Pandora mode in Street Fighter X Tekken

Street Fighter X Tekken producer Yoshinori Ono has thrown some light on the game's "Pandora Mode", which allows players to sacrifice a character in order to give the tag partner infinite EX meter before succumbing himself, which allows for a last-ditch comeback effort.

Ono explained how both the franchises are so very different from each other and how that enabled them to come up with something as crazy as the Pandora mode without it feeling tacked on.

"I think Tekken players have always been more accustomed to spending the last bit of a round doing a big combo rush and beating the crap out of the other guy," he says, "Whereas Street Fighter guys have always been suited to a Super Combo style system."

Rather than leaving both character types completely separate, Ono's team decided to find a happy compromise - and that, in the end, became the Pandora system.
