As was rumoured last week, EA has official announced the closure of Visceral’s Melbourne studio.

The Australian arm of EA studio Visceral is to close, EA has said.

“With no active project in development at that location, we’ve decided to close the Visceral Melbourne office. They are talented individuals and may find other roles elsewhere in EA, if they choose,” said EA in a statement, as reported by MCV.

“EA continues to maintain its mobile studios in Melbourne which are both thriving and hiring.”

EA owns Visceral, which has studios in Redwood Shores, California and Montreal. It’s best known for Dead Space, Godfather 2, and Dante’s Inferno.

EA’s website states the studio was working on new, unannounced triple-A title IP,

@2 Dead Space 2 was done my another branch of Visceral…mostly by the original Redwood Shores studio being the main one that did the original Dead Space…

Also, I’m confused by EA saying they weren’t developing an active project but then EA’s website saying they were working on an unannounced new triple A title IP…I wonder if it got canned or delegated to another studio if that’s truly the case, also curious if it was The Ripper game supposedly set to release some time in the next year or so…

Visceral has 3 other studios so yes it will be fine like #5 had said Redwood shore did the game. Visceral wasn’t canned just a branch in Australia was.
