UK charts: Dead Island stays up top for second week

Zombie-packed Dead Island has remained at the top of the UK charts this week, its been announced this morning.

The title has now sold more units in its first two weeks on sales than any other game published by Deep Silver, and is in fact outselling Sony Resistance 3 on PS3 alone.

The Insomniac shooter makes up the rest of the top five in third alongside WH40K: Space Marine, Driver San Francisco and Deus Ex: Human Revolution.

Red Faction: Armageddon also gets a surprising shot in the arm, missing out on the top ten into 11.

The only new entry was the God of War Collection Vol. 2, which only landed as far as number 35. The game that was in that position last week, Sega’s Kinect horror Rise of Nightmares, shot up to 18.

The top ten for the week ending September 17 is below. Last week’s data is here.

  1. Dead Island
  2. Warhammer 40k: Space Marine
  3. Resistance 3
  4. Driver: San Francisco
  5. Deus Ex: Human Revolution
  6. Zumba Fitness
  7. LEGO: Pirates of the Caribbean
  8. Rugby World Cup 2011
  9. LEGO: Harry Potter – Years 1-4
  10. Cars 2

@2 …except Dead Island is a great FPS/RPG hybrid and a very worthwile purchase for those of us who enjoyed Borderlands. The game isn’t perfect from a technical standpoint, but it’s got something more important than that; it’s got soul.

Resistance 3 deserves more sales, it’s a fantastic game, much better than the first 2.
