Nyko’s range-reducing Kinect accessory Zoom now available to purchase

Nyko’s Zoom, an accessory designed to reduce the amount of space required to use Microsoft’s Kinect, has finally been released.

The device was originally scheduled to release on August 23, but later pushed back to a September 13 release.

The accessory, which features a range reduction lens, claims to decrease the play range required to use the motion-sensing peripheral by up to 40%. The accessory is intended for gamers who live in small apartments or dorm rooms.

Microsoft has previously dismissed the need for the device, claiming that it could “impact the overall performance of Kinect.”

Zoom can be purchased through retailers or directly from Nyko through their online store.

Thanks, Game Guru.

If there were any games I wanted for Kinect this’d be cool.

@3 It does, but it’s a trade off.

It works at short range, but makes it effectiveness at longer ranges worse.

@4 cheers, that’s fine by me, where I would have a Kinect set up there’s maybe five feet of room max, it’s what’s stopped me from getting one.
