Nintendo’s announced today that Mario Kart will release in the UK on December 2, with a launch the previous day in Japan on December 1 confirmed at the company’s 3DS event this morning. Also dated, Super Mario 3D Land: that’ll drop in the UK on November 18, two weeks after it releases in Japan on November 3.

Great, they’re bringing out Mario Kart and Super Mario, I’ll definitely buy one now.

Presumably the dev team will go on to Wii-U Mario next ?

FFS Nintendo, are you some sort of elaborate capitalist prank to find out how many times you can sell the same shit back to the same suckers ?

Well, unlike the rest of the world it seems, I’m looking forward to this and I’ll be buying it day one.

Actually the surprising thing is releasing Super Mario 3D Land on the same day as the new Zelda for the Wii. Not to mention the other releases of that week are Assassin’s Creed: Revelations, Saints Row 3, Halo: Anniversary, Mario and Sonic at the London 2012 Olympics, Anno 2070, NFS: The Run, Ultimate Marvel Vs Capcom and I might be missing a few.

All of this right after the whole BF3, Uncharted 3, MW3, Skyrim Sonic Generations, Rayman Origins etc releases.

Something’s going to bomb that’s for sure. Besides there’s the new Layton the following week and Mario Kart 7 hits on Dec 2nd. I don’t think the holiday has that much selling power. Sure we know that a few titles will be moved but Q1 is already getting crowded by title releases where are they going to move it to? I’m sure people with jobs who are passionate about gaming might buy 5-7 titles but I see the 3DS titles not doing as well as they hoped purely cause they are cannibalising releases.
