PSN to go offline from 5pm tomorrow evening

Sony’s confirmed on the EU PS Forums maintenance work for PlayStation Network, commencing from 5pm tomorrow evening until 11pm later that night. During the maintenance, users will not be able to gain access to PlayStation Store, Account Management and Account Registration. The restrictions will be in place until 7pm for those who’ve remained signed in before the maintenance work begins.

I wonder if this is to fix the auto-update sync issues a lot of PSN+ users have been having since 3.70.

I take it this involves more than just the EU servers – if not, isn’t that a stupid time period for scheduled maintenance?
