Rumour: 3 million DiRT 3 Steam keys leaked online

According to a forum post on the Steam forum (via Kotaku), 3 million promo keys of DiRT 3 have leaked. The codes, which were given out as part of a promotion between Codemasters and AMD when you bought a graphics card from the latter, were part of a list that found its way online. As the codes belong to Steam, it would be simply a case of blocking any said code that was part of the list from the service to prevent it being played.

I’m sorry but this comment on the forum topic is hilarious
‘You might considering the key’s themselves are illegal. They were legit until some hacker got them and listed them for any/all to use.

Pretty much using the code IS stealing. Contact steam support now and tell them you didn’t know they were stolen codes and ask them to remove Dirt 3 from your account ASAP. With luck valve won’t decide to ban your account for good.

In anycase this is highly illegal and just plain wrong. ‘

It’s no rumour, they’re being posted all over the place…

Yeah, this isn’t a rumour, it’s been verified by Codemasters as well.

Greatest sale ever!

I actually bought the game. It’s not all that bad, but it also has people who insist on calling you “amigo” and essentially rub it in your face when you get a silver medal.

“Silver is definitely your color” – Seriously, give me a game mode where I can run that guy over, and do a donut on his fucking face.

“It’s not murder, I just suck at gymkhana I guess! – WINK, WINK”

If only…
