Rock of Ages marks launch with new trailer, screens

It's not editorially correct for me to tell you Rock of Ages looks awesome, but I can invite you to check out this new trailer and batch of screens and judge for yourself.

The unusual strategy title casts the player in the role of Sisyphus, the Greek mythological figure cursed with an the eternal uphill climb rolling an enormous boulder, facing off against various notable historical commanders and engineers.

In a tower-defence like set up, players construct barricades and place troops before sending a boulder crashing down against their opponents' efforts. It's all a bit silly and also awesome.

Check out the strangely attractive historically-informed aesthetic in the assets below.

Rock of Ages is available now on the US PlayStation Network and Xbox Live, and will arrive on Steam on September 7. No European release date yet.

Thanks, Joystiq.
