New Square Enix COO to push mobile and social development

Long-serving executive Clinton Foy has been promoted to chief operating officer of Square Enix's North American arm.

Gamasutra reports Foy has been a part of Squeenix's upper echelons for six years.

Formerly, he acted as the US publisher's vice president of business and legal affairs and general counsel. His background is in law and technology.

"One of the key new responsibilities of the COO role will be to shape and drive more aggressive business development initiatives in free-to-play, social, mobile, browser, and emerging platforms," said CEO Mike Fischer.

"Clinton’s valuable experience makes him uniquely qualified to lead our organization in these important areas."
