Into Dust: New Gears 3 cinematic trailer goes live
Machinima’s gone live with a, quite simply, stunning cinematic trailer for Gears of War 3. Get watching below the break.
The video, titled Dust to Dust, shows ongoing battles between Marcus and Dom against the Locusts and Lambent throughout the trilogy, as the world around them crumbles among a passing skyline to the score of Mazzy Star’s Into Dust.
The new video kicks off the countdown to the worldwide release of the Epic trilogy conclusion on September 20 on Xbox 360.
We’ll have an interview on the game from Epic boss Mike Capps from gamescom on the site in the near future.

It’s always laughably entertaining when Gears of War attempts to be all art-house and deep.
It couldn’t be more out of place if it tried.

@3 If you think this is ‘arthouse’ then I suggest you need to study cinema a little more closely.
Silent footage + emotional music does not = arthouse.
This goes for Assassin’s Creed ads too.
Incidentally, I like the Gears ads. Better than a stream of Michael Bay-inspired MTV cuts of erratic game footage.

Ergh.
I love myself some Gears, but I’m fed up with the series trying to elicit unearned emotion from it’s trailers by overlaying a heartfelt song. Nothing in the Gears of War series is touching. Please stop this erratic juxtaposition, Epic, you’re not Tarantino.

I’m trying to find out if Gears 3′s 4 player co-op is local (offline). Finding it hard to find info confirming this. Anyone know if this is the case?

I doubt it – Gears’ playstyle has always been horizontal rather than vertical. Be tricky squeezing four views onto one screen.

I’ve got my console hooked up to a projector, so the 4 way split screen won’t be too cramped. That’s why I’m hoping to find definite confirmation that the local 4 way will be split screen. It would be awesome to have 4 buddies with you in the same room enjoying a Gears session
