Warner Q2 financials – Games revenue up thanks to Mortal Komabt, LEGO Pirates
Warner has issued its financial report for Q2 of its fiscal year and the firm’s Filmed Entertainment division, which its videogame segment falls under, saw a 13 percent increase in revenue to $2.8 billion year-on-year. The firm attributed this growth to the releases of Mortal Kombat and LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean. The Time Warner group reported an overall 10 percent revenue increase to $7 billion, compared to $6.4 billion for the same period in its last fiscal year. Thanks, Gamasutra.

Crystal Dynamics looking “at the bigger picture” of where Tomb Raider “needs to go”
Karl Stewart, brand manager at Crystal Dynamics, has said his main role at the firm is understanding game brands and how to “flip the tables on franchises,” which is something he and the development team are currently doing with Tomb Raider.

First video for Grasshopper and Digital Reality’s Sine Mora released
A teaser video for Grasshopper Manufacture’s PSN and XBL shooter Sine Mora has been released. Co-developed at Digital Reality and scored by former Silent Hill man Akira Yamaoka, the “diesel punk” game has plenty of floating robots with octoarms, and massive trains and planes that do things only a fantasy setting such as this would allow. While the video doesn’t show any real gameplay, it does show off enough in-game footage to give you an idea of what to expect when it is released this winter. Thanks, GameSetWatch.

EU PS Plus content for August features Assassin’s Creed discounts, more
Sony’s detailed this month’s content line-up for PlayStation Plus, featuring discounts for those yet to buy the first two Assassin’s Creed games. You’ll get the first game half-price, while Assassin’s Creed II is 20 percent off, as well as come with all of its DLC for free. If you buy Brotherhood, which launches today, you’ll get two free PSN avatars. Plus subs will also get Crash Commando for free, as well as the original Rayman on PS1.

NCSoft, OnLive to sponsor Eurogamer Expo party
Eurogamer’s announced today that NCSoft and OnLive are to sponsor this year’s Eurogamer Expo party. Far Cry 2 was in development for PSP, Wii, says resume
According to the resume of ex-Ubisoft Montreal staffer Philippe Baude, Far Cry 2 was in development for Wii and PSP for a short period between late 2006 and early 2007. But as his LinkedIn profile shows, it ended up being canned, leaving PS3, 360 and PC owners to their own devices with the game. And that’s the end of that chapter. The next game in the series, Far Cry 3, launches next year for PS3, 360 and PC.
