Battlefield 3 will contain 10 times the weapon unlockables as Battlefield 2, according to the latest entry to the Battleblog. These hardware unlocks will be spread over weapons, attachments, gadgets as well as a “huge unlock tree for vehicles alone.”

Those who visit the official Gears of War Facebook page and “like” it, will get a Gears of War 3 code for the multiplayer character Aaron Griffin, voiced by Ice-T, on XBL. Griffin will also be available on September 20 to the Facebook community when the game launches, but if you want him early, all you have to do is enter the code. Go check it out. Thanks, Lolshock.

An upcoming issue of Xbox World 360 Magazine claims to carry some information on a rumored multiplayer mode in Mass Effect 3, according to the cover which was posted on NeoGAF. It was said the new mode would supposedly debut at gamescom, and would be playable at UK trade shows in September. Now it looks as though this is just indeed a rumor, despite the mag cover not specifying it as such.

Bioware are released its usual Friday update for Star Wars: The Old Republic, and this week we get a look at the Jedi Consular. According to the blurb: “Jedi Consulars channel the power of the Force for strength in combat and wisdom in diplomacy. Years of arduous training and meditation have sharpened Consulars’ minds to cut to the truth as cleanly as a Lightsaber.” Fantastic. The firm has also seen fit to release some new Jedi screens showing off the Mage, Shadow and the Mirialan. SWTOR is scheduled for a release by the end of the year.

A new video for NBA 2K12 has been released showing off the game’s Greatest Mode, which allows the player to put current or the greatest of the great teams up against one another in the game. Think of it as creating your very own fantasy NBA game, and you’ve pretty much got it. NBA 2K12 will be available on October 4 for PC, PS2, PS3, PSP, Wii and Xbox 360. Thanks, GameFront.

Just Add Water has sent over three lovely PS3 screens from Oddworld Stranger’s Wrath HD. The upgraded version of the classic game is set to launch on PSN in the next couple of months, and the firm is also at work on PS Vita versions of Munch’s Oddysee and Stranger’s Wrath for late 2011 or early 2012. The HD update of Abe’s Oddysee is projected towards the end of 2012.

EA has confirmed its EA2D studio has become part of Bioware, and has been renamed Bioware San Francisco. EA2D, responsible for titles such as Dragon Age Legends and Mirror’s Edge 2D, is now under the developer’s umbrella after a promotions and shuffling around were officially announced last night. Other EA2D titles include Dragon Age Journeys and The Fancy Pants Adventures. This is the fifth studio to hang the Bioware banner across it, the others are Edmonton, Montreal, Austin, and Bioware Mythic in Virginia. Thanks, Gamasutra.

According to a post over on NeoGAF, Team Bondi are bankrupt, and studio head Brendan McNamara along with current staff members will be folded into KMM. This new rumor comes on the heals of yesterday’s report that Mcnamara was spotted walking about the KMM studios, and that a deal was in the works for it to purchase the embattled Australian development house. The GAF post also states that Depth Analysis, the company which owns the facial tech used in L.A. Noire, are also in a spot of financial trouble, after making “little to no money,” off the game. Sony has officially announced PSN PLAY, a new program starting August 9 and running through September 20, which allows participants to earn extra goodies with pre-orders on PlayStation Network in North America and Europe.

Minecraft creator Notch, who’s studio Mojang is currently working on a digital trading card game called Scrolls, has received a letter from Betheda’s legal department stating that the name ‘Scrolls’ is in violation of its Elder Scrolls trademark.

According to a post over on CheapAssGamer, a source as told the site Walmart plans to drop the price of 3DS on August 9, which is three days before the official price drop goes into effect. Providing the information is true, it could presumably allow purchasers to download the 20 free downloadable games as part of the Ambassador’s Program because they would be purchasing the handhled before the price drop is official on August 11.
