Bastion PC to hit Australia August 17
Warner Bros. Australia has confirmed Bastion’s local PC release date of August 17, one day behind other territories – although that’s probably a time zone thing, really, since we live in the future.
The critically-acclaimed action RPG (read: dungeon crawler) will go for $14.99, and kick off on Steam before hitting other local PS portal storefronts.
The PC version of the game has an overhauled control scheme but also supports control pads. It’s also available on Xbox Live Arcade.

Latest Blizzard Insider talks a bit about Diablo III’s upcoming beta
In the latest issue of Blizzard Insider, Blizzard has let lose on a few Diablo III beta details, most of which are already known thanks to a press event not long ago, but there’s some interesting bits in there as well. Pity these interesting tidbits don’t announce a date for the beta. It’s rumored to be sometime in September, with the firm itself confirming during its recent investors call that it would happen during the quarter. Thanks, EvilAvatar.

Quick Quotes: Bungie on game rumors, going dark for a while
“It’s my job to pay attention [and] make sure we respond to the right kinds of things and let other things that we don’t normally touch just kind of sit there. Speculation is usually generated when people are interested, so in that respect it’s good. People want to know what we’re doing and people are engaged. That’s pretty cool. We’re kind of going into a dark phase now. We’re not going to make a whole lot of noise, we just want to allow people to build anticipation. And frankly we’re really, really busy.” Bungie’s Eric Osborne to Eurogamer.

Epic hiring programmers for Gears 3 and “new unannounced IP”
Epic Games is currently hiring gameplay programmers to work on “Gears of War 3, as well as a new unannounced IP in development.” No word on what this “unannounced IP” could be, as we haven’t even heard mumblings, but we’ll send a mail and ask. Likely, it will result in a wink and a smile with a no comment, but, that’s the breaks. Thanks: Eurogamer, Xboxygen.

Bloodrayne: Betrayal delayed into October on XBL
Bloodrayne: Betrayal has been delayed into October, according to the game’s developer. Scheduled for release this month with a delay of a week’s time already, the game will now land on October 5 on XBL. No reason for the delay was provided to D’toid, and since the delay is on XBL only, this will not affect the game’s PLAY incentive announced just yesterday. Earlier reports stated the game was also delayed on PSN, but we sent a mail and asked, and were told it was not the case. [pic]

Quick Quotes: Notch on EA’s meeting with Mojang
“EA came to see us. I think they had plans, but picked up the vibe. Nothing’s been said since – it’s all very high politics. I play their games, and they make great games, but we are too far from each other. They can make their games, and I’ll buy them. We’ll make ours, and they can buy them. Not the property – that’s ours. But they can play it like everyone else.” – Minecraft creator Markus Persson on his meeting with EA CEO John Riccitiello, via Develop.

Report – Used 3DS sales have doubled in Japan
According to data retrieved from Media Create, sales of used 3DS systems have doubled after Nintendo announced the system was getting a price reduction. According to Nintendo World Report, Media Create believes it’s due to players wanting to get in on the Ambassador Program before the price drops, or sue to retailers dropping prices on used systems by around ¥4,000 ($51).
In the US, it has been rumored that Walmart will be dropping the price of 3DS a few days early, which would ensure the big box store would get the jump on it’s competitors.

L4D2: If 60,000 earn Connecting Fights achievement, Blood Harvest beta gets unlocked early
Valve’s added an updated version of the original Left 4 Dead Terminal Map for Dead Air into Left 4 Dead 2, and it is handing out an incentive to test it for bugs and the like. This incentive will come in the form of an achievement called Connecting Fights, which is earned by playing a complete game of Versus in Dead Air. What’s more, once 60,000 people earn the achievement, Valve will unlock the beta version of Blood Harvest on Steam the following weekday. Think of it as the same as with the Dead Air incentive, only instead of the goal being 20,000, Valve has added and extra 40,000 on top of it. Get to work. Thanks, Shack.
