Frostbite gives Need for Speed: The Run a more detailed, cinematic environment
Sony has posted a video featuring Need for Speed:The Run executive producer Jason DeLong showing the PS Blog how the Frostbite engine provides a more cinematic experience to the game. The video, which is posted below, also shows a play-session featuring cars speeding down Independence Pass in Colorado, which was also shown during EA’s gamescom presser. Other terrains are shown as well, and DeLong also discusses how the development went about incorporating the route players will take in the game. Game’s out in November.

August UDK beta released, kit has been installed 900,000 times
Epic Games has released the August 2011 UDK beta, which is now available for download. The update includes a movie capture system, material functions, adaptive tessellation, and iCloud document saving for iOS. It also contains improvements to the Unreal Editor, including Unreal Matinee, Unreal Cascade, AnimSet Viewer, the material editor and more. You can get more update details through the notes. There is also a a video below which gives you an inside look at the update. UDK, the free version of Unreal Engine 3 has been installed 900,000 times.

Skyrim face creator hitting PAX, game contains the possibility of avengement
Bethesda will be at PAX Prime this weekend, and will allow attendees to go hands-on with Skyrim’s face creator. To help kick things off, the firm has sent over a compiled look at the preset face variations available for each of the ten races in the game. You can look over these below. Also, over on GameFront, the site has word that if you kill a person in the game, a family member might “wish to take revenge.” So, in other words, if you kill an paranoid wood elf, his equally paranoid son or wife could come after you at some point.
