Deus Ex: Human Revolution brings “flood” of new users to OnLive
Despite the GameStop ruckus, Square Enix and OnLive’s Deus Ex: Human Revolution deal is already having a positive effect for the cloud gaming service.
“We’ve already seen it,” CEO Steve Perlman told OnLive Fans “It’s all anonymised of course, but we certainly see how many people are redeeming the coupons, and how many coupons are redeemed.
“There’s just been a flood of people coming in, first timers on OnLive today, PC gamers who have gone and bought the disc, got it home, and said ‘oh, what’s this?’”
Perlman seemed happy not just to have got the company’s service into people’s homes, but also by the new players’ reactions.
“It’s great, they’re joining the community. They’re adding to it. Who knows, maybe they’ll go spectate, get some ideas, chat with people. It’s all about making a better experience for people and making a bigger community. ”
SquareEnix surprised US PC gamers by bundling OnLive vouchers for an extra copy of the game with Deus Ex: Human Revolution.
GameStop, which owns rival digital services Impulse and Spawn Labs, pulled the game from retail over the bundled vouchers.
