Na'Vi wins inaugural Dota 2 championships

Ukraine based Dota 2 team Na'Vi has emerged winner of the inaugural Dota 2 championships, which were held at gamescom in Cologne last week.

The team bagged a cool $1 million in prize money by taking pole position. The event was broadcast live.

Valve's confirmed that it'll be holding another international tournament next year at the exact same venue. The dates are yet to be finalized. The company's also in talks with various other Dota event organisers about the prospect of offering Dota 2 during its beta phase.

On top of the prize money, Na'Vi also got hardware sponsored by Nvidia, who provided all the hardware for the event.

The tourney featured the 16 best Dota teams in the world, who locked horns through a group stage, followed by a double elimination play-off format over the course of five days.

Dota 2 will be available for the PC and Mac later this year.
