Microsoft: More revenue comes from transactions "than the subscription space"

Xbox Live marketing manager for EMEA Robin Burrowes has reiterated that since last January, the service has grown by five million users due in part to the addition of new regions added to the service last fall.

Speaking with Joystiq, Burrows said XBL now has "35 million people globally across 35 countries," but wouldn't specify how many users were Gold or Silver subs.

Back in November, it was revealed that at least half of XBL users hold a Gold account, which numbers at the time hit at around 12 million.

Burrows went on to say that Microsoft has seen "more revenue from the transaction space than the subscription space," recently, meaning the form is making more money from digital content than sub services.
