FemShep fan feedback sought again

Thursday, 18th August 2011 00:31 GMT By Brenna Hillier

Having settled on a facial structure and hairstyle for the new default female Commander Shepard, BioWare is asking fans what colour said hair should be.

Head on over to the Mass Effect 2 Facebook page to take part in the voting; simply Like the colour you prefer.

The options on offer are blonde, redhead, and both light and dark brunette.

As is right and proper given the original default FemShep’s looks, the ranga is currently winning with over 11,000 votes.

Redhead FemShep has a serious contender in her black-haired counterpart, with almost 8,500 votes, but both remaining options have barely scraped 3,500 each.

The fan voted FemShep is expected to appear in an upcoming trailer for Mass Effect 3, as well as on one side of the collector’s edition’s packaging.

Mass Effect 3 is due on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in March.

Thanks, Destructoid.

They are using the above pic for FemShep, right? Nothing wrong with that one.

So, basically, they arbitrarily decided to scrap the vote AFTER the vocal minority’s complaints…. The face was always identical, but the other hairstyles sucked. By tacking on another vote to decide hair color, they both appease the whiners that felt a blonde would look stupid on the box art (it has no bearing on what character you can make in-game, so who gives a shit?), and then avoid coming off like they broke their promise by saying “Oh, that was only round one!”

FWIW, I think the dirty blonde looks way better than black.

Why are they so keen on how they make her look? Why not put a helmet on both the male and female protagonists so it will be upto the players to decide how the look. The previous female Shepherd looked serious and fitted the the role/story perfectly.

Because its more appealing to have a face. We all know we will have our own sheperd and the original Femshep was less than stellar to put on a cover of a game.

Also the fans are voting at what she will look like so the community is making a decision on what they want. THis is the last Mass Effect SHeperd game let Bioware go all out with it.
