Sony getting into the 99 cents movie rental business

Sony has announced its discount movie rental program for US PSN users is coming back starting today.

The $0.99 fee is for standard definition flicks, while HD ones will run you $1.99.

The list will be updated every Tuesday, and the movies discounted the previous week will return to their original price.

Since its initial debut in July 2011, the $0.99 movie rental program has been one of the most asked-for offers from the PSN community, according to Sony, so good for you who kept mentioning it to the firm.

Titles included in the first week of the rental program in the US August 16 - 22 include:

  • Sicko
  • The Longshots
  • Salvage
  • Tony
  • Shank
  • Bonded By Blood
  • JFK: Reckless Youth (Part 1)
  • JFK: Reckless Youth (Part 2)
  • Deadly Blessing
  • Carver
  • Devil in the Flesh 2 (aka Teacher's Pet 2)
  • Illuminating Angels & Demons
