Report – Battlefield 3 Origin pre-orders score free game

At least one user has reported receiving a free game in response to pre-ordering Battlefield 3 through EA’s own digital distribution platform, Origin.

The lucky gamer received an email notification of the deal, which he flagged with Ars Technica:

“As a special thank you for pre-ordering Battlefield 3 early at Origin, we’re offering you a bonus PC digital download game. Please apply the code below at the shopping cart to redeem one PC Digital version of one of our recommended shooter titles: Mass Effect 2, Dead Space 2 or Medal of Honor. The price will be reduced to $0 after applying the code at your shopping cart. Hurry—this offer is only good for the month of August, and is exclusive to Origin customers only.”

Origin pre-orders also net access to the game’s multiplayer beta along with the usual extras.

Battlefield 3 launches for PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in late October. An Origin account will be required to play the PC version.

Thanks, Joystiq.

You know what the difference is between EA and Valve, and why Steam was successful? Because Valve actually offers a good selection of games.

They were doing this for the alpha testers. I got an email after that ended saying “Thank you for your participation! Here’s an exclusive pre-order offer:” But then I saw the games that a) are already really cheap and b) I’ve already played, so didn’t appeal to me at all. I would’ve been more willing to bite if it was like 33% off Battlefield 3 or something.

But I guess they feel they still need to inflate their sales figures for those older titles and decided to open it up to everyone. I guess it’s an alright deal if you’ve not gotten around to those other games yet.

i have a question?
what is the point of Battle log
if we PC gamers will be forced to use origins?
the same goes to COD elite why should some one care abut it if what you wont you have it on steam for it?

Clearly a misprint, obviously they mean preorder on Origin and get one of afore mentions games for a tenner, right?

Oh, they’re actually charging £40 for the game.

I see…

@3 Or even something like 10% off bF3 would be worth more then 33% off MoH…

begun, the bullshit war has. £40 for a PC game, where a) you could lose it if you dont play it after 2 years b) you use your OWN bandwith to download it.

Love you EA for being a tit
