New trailer for Need for Speed: The Run

EA’s latest project in the Need for Speed series is inching closer to release, and we’ve got a new trailer for the game direct from Germany at gamescom 2011.
EA also released a pack of three screenshots, two of which simply show what’s already seen in the trailer, but the third is semi-unique. It shows some extra racers on the track shown in the trailer: Independence Pass.

This game just gets dumber and dumber.

I think there’s a rule that says a good Need for Speed game only comes around once every 10 years.

THere is nothing to see here other than a CG trailer and yet you can say that the game is crap based on this. Alright Pachter whatever you say.

Well then even more so there is still nothing to go off of other than the environment also being a conflict along with other racers.

It’s an on-rails racer. If you can hit a line the size of the back of a barn, you’re gonna be just fine. The fact that they actually put it on ice in that video just makes it look even dumber. To me that’s a pretty sad excuse for a racing game, especially considering the quite respectable titles that do pop up here and there amongst the million Need For Speed games, that get pumped out of the factory.

And that’s not even touching on the fact that they’ve conveniently chosen not to show any of the quicktime mechanics yet. It’s an obvious trainwreck.

I’m sure some people will find that fun, and that’s fine. Hot Pursuit was mostly the same thing, and people seemed to enjoy driving in a straight line then too.

@5. I’m simply going off the brand name “Need for Speed” and personally getting tired of hearing a new iteration every 6-8 months. That’s just me though. If that’s gameplay, it does look impressive.

@7 at least they are rotating dev teams now rather than blackbox putting out one every year like they used to

theres also a gameplay vid on giantbomb (quicklook EX or something) just shows one race, its damn pretty, probs because it’s running on frostbite 2

^Anyone who knows the Tomb Raider franchise should know I’m referring to the Core years after TR3 where they ran it into the ground, much like Guitar Hero, and now it seems Need for Speed.
