Gamescom 2011: Microsoft press conference – we’re live

Tuesday, 16th August 2011 11:39 GMT By Johnny Cullen

It’s a play day, yes. But considering what we’re about to see before we leave for EA, you will read this. Oh, and there’s other things of note too. But that main thing is why you’ll read.

This will be a free-form event instead of a press conference unlike Sony or EA, but we did this last year. We thought we did well out of it, so we’re doing it again.

Last year was all about Fable III, Halo: Reach and Kinect. This year will all about be those three things again: Fable: The Journey, Halo Anniversary and more Kinect stuff, with showings from stable games Kinect Sports and Dance Central 2 (I’m thinking about it).

And now it’s official: Steel Battalion will be at the event. We’re seeing it this afternoon. We’ll let you know what it’s like as soon as.

We’re on right now. Watch everything below.

Well this is lame. Is there going to be an actual conference or is it just the show room floor?

Exactly. M$ is always shit with promoting their games in this format.
They’d rather spend millions on ads.

I’d rather Riiiiiidge Racer, then a little girl playing with her “skittles”, that was clearly a pedos wet dream but look lets just leave it as that mate.

Oh, well beauty in the eye of the beholder I suppose. Seriously though, they mostly always did a good job I thought, e.g. that one with ex-Beatles on stage.

Presentation maybe, but i thought a conference is always made up of three things that will equal a successful conference: announcements, mixed with surprise and the most obvious… Games – Ultimately not starting with H and ending with a numerical symbol.

But MS seem to always be last place on this yearly.

    example: E3 2011.

Its always a case of Nintendo first Sony close second and MS third.
Lets hope today is different, but from the looks of it now, i doubt it.

Well, I figured you were talking about conference, not the current line-up of titles or tastes in gaming.. Btw I believe the 2008 FFXIII met the ‘surprise’ criteria, didn’t it.

I also haven’t noticed anything at Sony’s E3 this year that would make me like it over MS one, it’s also kind of depressing seeing Nintendo having the best conference only to later release the 3ds with nothing but poor launch titles, as well as seeing Sony announcing and/or promoting games years before they come out.

    Lol, along with Halo 7, 8, 9 & 10.

Microsofts integrity is second to none.

Nah, Halo 5 probably won’t be announced till 2014 at the earliest I’d say.
