Amnesia: The Dark Descent sells 400,000

It was hailed as one of the scariest games in years by critics, and now it seems that fans agreed as the developers report impressive sales numbers.

The new figure being reported from GDC Europe is especially exciting for the developer because of the much smaller figure they reported back in January, which was under 200,000.

Maybe Steam’s massive Summer sale helped them move a few extra copies.

the best survival horror game of this generation.

@1 Imagine what they can do with some serious engines and bigger budget.

I think the game is fine the way it is (i.e. low budget). If you throw a lot of money behind it, all of a sudden you’ll have a completely different, but not necessarily better. Amnesia is good because it’s gritty and feels like a low budget game. It’s like how the first Resident evil games, though they looked like crap, felt scarier than any of the RE games we have now.
