Analyst firm expects SWTOR to move 3 million units in first year

Cowen and Company research has predicted that Star Wars: The Old Republic will sell 3 million units during its first year of availability.

The research was conducted using pre-order analysis, which the company claims has consumers looking more forward to it than Starcraft 2 or Cataclysm last year, based on "pre-order excitement". Both of Blizzard's titles sold over 4 million units.

Due to the data collected, the pre-order information has led the firm to raise estimates from 1.5 million to 3 million, and subscriber numbers from 1 million to 2 million.

SWTOR has been available for pre-order since last July, with a world-wide beta expected next month. The game is slated for an end of the year release.
