MercurySteam CEO Enric Alvarez is to give a keynote at GDC Europe, organisers ThinkServices has announced this morning. Alvarez will give a post-mortem of the Spanish studio’s development on Castlevania: Lords of Shadow, in which he will “share surprising and inspiring insights into how to create not one, but several AAA video game projects from a small studio in Spain.”

GDC Europe happens from August 14-16 in Cologne alongside gamescom.

Kojima Prod was available to discuss ideas, advise and those more hands-off things, probably make use of their specialities where it made sense, as well as I think be outwardly demonstrating that Konami wasn’t viewing it as an out-sourcing. There was collaboration, but the brunt of the coding, art and other data/engine related things would have been handled by MS. That’s my assumption, at least. That game was one heck of an undertaking, but they saw it through for an impressive result.
