Quintin Smith leaves Rock, Paper, Shotgun
Rock, Paper, Shotgun writer Quintin Smith has announced he will be leaving the site effectively as of today. Smith says he’s leaving the site to pursue “ordinary freelancing.” Smith became full-time one-fourth of the RPS massive after Kieron Gillen left games journalism back in October of last year.

Valve gamescom page mentions “strategy” title, is probably DOTA 2
As spotted by EG, Valve’s got listed a “strategy” title to show at gamescom next month, according to the company’s page on the show’s website. So unless it’s announcing Portal 3, Left 4 Dead 3 or Half-Life 3 as strategy titles, this is all but likely to be DOTA 2. We’ll check in with Valve to see if that’s the case.
gamescom happens from August 17-21 in Cologne.

Mass Effect 3, NFS: The Run confirmed for EG Expo
EG’s announced two further additions to EA’s line-up at Eurogamer Expo. Both Mass Effect 3 and Need for Speed: The Run will both join Battlefield 3, FIFA 12 and Star Wars; The Old Republic at the show. Boom.
Eurogamer Expo takes place at Earls Court in London between September 23-26. Tickets are on sale here.

Warhammer 40k: Space Marine to feature 100 minutes worth of cut-scenes
Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine will feature more than an hour-and-a-half’s worth of cut-scenes – 103 minutes and 17 seconds, to be specific – according to the BBFC. The game’s been given a 15 for its troubles, and passed with no cuts made. And that’s it.

Microsoft Game Studios boss Phil Spencer has said that with the development of Ryse, Crytek has “fallen in love” with Kinect, adding the relationship between the German company and MS is “a perfect marriage.”

Sony teases “World Game Project” event for Japan
Sony’s opened a teaser site for “World Game Project.” It seems to be an event from the company for July 23 in Akihabara, suggesting to play “the World’s games.” This sounds like games from the west will be on show for the event.

SSX livestream confirms Moby, Psymon for character list
We missed this last week, but here we are: EA confirmed in a livestream of SSX in Canada last week that Moby and Psymon are the latest characters to be announced for the game. They join Mac and Kaori, who were announced at E3 last month. There’s a full video of the E3 demo from the event below.
SSX releases in January for PS3 and 360.

Media Molecule-Harrison keynote to headline Develop
Develop organisers have announced that the opening keynote of the event, a chat with LittleBigPlanet developer Media Molecule and ex-SCE WWS head Phil Harrison, will be the main headliner later this month. Harrison, who first brought the company to Sony’s attention, will interview co-founders Alex Evans, Mark Healey and Kareem Ettouney for a session called “Living Inside a Molecule” on July 20.
Develop takes place in Brighton between July 19-21.
