Rising Star says not to buy Deadly Premonition off Xbox Live just yet

Rising Star Games wants folks to hold off on purchasing Deadly Premonition from Xbox Live Games on Demand due to a issue a pricing issue. Apparently, the game went live yesterday with a £19.99 price tag instead of the planned £14.99. A Rising Star representative has told Eurogamer the firm is working on rectifying the matter, and until then, people are warned “not to purchase the title at this current time.”

Harmonix files trademark for Vidrhythm

According to a US trademark application dug up by Siliconera, it looks as though Harmonix is working on something called Vidrhythm along with Dance Central 2. Earlier this year, the firm stated it was looking into 3DS, Vita, and Facebook development, so it is quite possible that whatever Vidrhythm is, it could possibly land on, well, just about anything really. You would have to be absolutely insane to miss out on the deals Steam’s put up for its summer sale tonight. Left 4 Dead 2′s gone up for £3.74, Far Cry 2 for £2.49, Prototype for £7.49 and Batman: Arkham Asylum GOTY for £3.74. Big deal, though, has to be Grand Theft Auto IV and its two episodes – The Lost and Damned and The Ballad of Gay Tony – for £6.24. There’s more deals here.

Aussie R&D tax credit could help its games sector become “one of the top three territories in the world”

Tony Reed, CEO of the Game Developers Association of Australia, feels the Australian Government’s proposed R&D tax credits is the best deal it has come up with to date, as it will provide the gaming sector with a 45 percent refundable tax credit if a firm’s turnover is less than $20 million.

Hi-Rez Studios co-founder Todd Harris has said the firm is starting to put a stronger emphasis on developing its titles on PC first and consoles second, due to the fact the former is a more open platform. Harris believes PC is more open, therefore free-to-play multiplayer games such as Global Agenda will continue to thrive on the platform, due to the inability to release timely patches and updates on consoles.

Final Fantasy XIII-2 confirmed for EG Expo

Square Enix has added its backing to the Eurogamer Expo, confirming that FInal Fantasy XIII-2 will be playable on the showfloor. The game got a full blowout at E3 last month following its proper unveiling at a Square Japan event in January.

FFXIII-2′s out in early 2012 in the west, with a Japanese launch in Japan, on PS3 and 360. Eurogamer Expo takes place from September 22-25 at Earls Court. Get tickets here.

The Secret World trailer focuses on Kingsmouth, Savage Coast

Funcom’s released a new gameplay trailer of The Secret World, showing the location of Kingsmouth and the Savage Coast. Watch as the voice of Raiden from MGS gives a narration of whats happened in the trailer. You can watch it below.

Sensui becomes Xbox Japan general manager

Microsoft announced at a press briefing in Japan for its upcoming fiscal year this morning that Takashi Sensui will fully take charge of Xbox in the country, heading up the Interactive Entertainment Business. His previous job seen him share commitments between Xbox, as well as Windows and Office software. In his new role, he will solely look after the Xbox business.

Level 5 RPG Cinderellife announced for 3DS

Level 5 has lifted the lid of a brand new RPG called Cinderellife. It’s for 3DS, and sees you as a host in a hostess club where you have to entertain male guests. It’s based on a game running on the company’s ROID service in Japan. It should be out by the end of the year in Japan.

Square Enix suing 15 Italian nationals over Deus Ex leak

Square Enix is taking 15 Italian nationals to court over the leaking of a PC preview build of Deus Ex: Human Revolution. The company’s accused them of hacking into the servers of an Italian games magazine where the build was being hosted before copying it and posting it online. Square says the leak would constitute copyright infringement, with damages also looking to be claimed “in excess of $5000.” There’s more on it here, via Kotaku.
