Tribes: Ascend to publicly debut and be playable at QuakeCon

Hi-Rez Studios has announced it’s to publicly debut Tribes: Ascend during QuakeCon 2011, and attendees to the event will also be able to get hands-on time with the free-to-play shooter. Still in Closed Alpha, those who stop by the game booth can register to win a limited number of keys to the closed beta. The full game is expected to be released later this year.

“QuakeCon has been called the Woodstock of gaming and we’re thrilled to introduce Tribes: Ascend at this show”, says Todd Harris, Hi-Rez Studios COO. “QuakeCon has always delivered exceptional, competitive multiplayer gaming… for free; and that’s our mission with Tribes: Ascend.”

QuakeCon takes place August 4-7 in Dallas, Texas.

Gamestop officially adds Impulse to online store

Gamestop has added Impulse to its website, after acquiring the service back in March. In order to start using it, you just need to download the client. Gamedtop gift cards, gift certificates or credit earned through the Edge Card are not being accepted as of yet. The firm has said it expects these payment options to be “available in the future.” The firm has said in the past it expects to generate $1.5 billion in digital revenue by 2014. Pachter expects EA to spend between $45-$50 million on BF3 marketing

Michael Pachter has said in his latest industry note, that he expects EA to spend between $45 and $50 million on Battlefield 3 marketing. Pachter also said in the note he expects Star Wars: The Old Republic to sell 2 million copies at launch, and 1.5 million user hanging after the free one-month trial expires. Spooky Squid Games releases trailer for They Bleed Pixels

Spooky Squid Games has updated its website with details and a video for its new XBL platformer They Bleed Pixels. Apparently, the game is a “fast-paced, gothic lo-fi, platforming beat’em up that drips, gushes and flows,” with a one-button combo-attack system. ESRB lists Parasite Eve II for US PSP and PS3

Good news everyone: the ESRB has re-rated Parasite Eve II for PSP and PS3, and has listed Sony Computer Entertainment as the publisher. What this means, is the game’s likely headed to PSN soon in North America, after Europe already got its hands on Aya’s survival-horror sequel through the service.
